Welcome to the
Serendipity Spirit Salon
Here it is at last, the inaugural issue of the Serendipity
Spirit Salon! But what is the Salon?
We like to think of it as a virtual gathering of
good friends,
and kind of "cyberspace Serendipity Circle." And we hope that the Salon
will be a source of inspiration, information, and entertainment about
living a lifestyle in the throes of Intrepid Serendipity.
Inspiration might be found in the poetic and
prosaic offerings
contained herein ~ initially provided by a few among us, but hopefully
to include offerings from any of you who might like to share a poem, a
story, or just an observation about the delightful surprises and
discoveries you make as you proceed on your individual and collective
journeys through this curious thing we call 'life.'
Information might be found in the links to other
websites we
find useful, relevant or just plain interesting.
Entertainment might be found...well, hopefully
the whole thing
will be entertaining enough to be forwarded throughout the internet,
from friend to friend, ad infinitum.
We hope you enjoy this initial offering of the Serendipity
Spirit Salon. Feel free to share it with your friends and loved
ones. We'd love to learn that the gathering of good friends has
transcended the nonexistent borders of cyberspace.

Oasis
Seven Haiku de l'Homme and Poessay

Yesterday's image
of tomorrow but figment;
don't hold on too tight.
Image of future
built of strange brick and mortar;
evaporative.
Hindsight finds error,
foresight re-imagines hope;
that was Zen, this Tao.
|
Being in happy
savors delight in surprise,
tasting the passing.
Only thing to do
with life assignment absurd?
Make nice each other.
Kind-hearted spirit
ripplingly pebble-ponding
waters-of-being.

Watch rich in spirit
transcending tragic logic
of money and time.
Proprietor's
Poessay
It's easy to forget that plans, goals,
intentions, etc. are an exercise of the imagination, the picture of the
future we create, the image that moves us the 'motivating mirage.'
It's easy to become attached to the picture of
the future we've created, easy to let desires become plans that grow
into expectations, easy to turn the motivating mirage into a compelling
need.
With an over-the-shoulder look, we can always
find error and missed opportunity. Looking forward, we fear the unknown
while imagining better times. But it is terribly important not to let
mental creations like 'past' and 'future' suck the
here-now-flavor-juice from this little drop of water
in the river of life.
It is possible to float and steer with
child-like hope and awe, to understand your precious agenda as
provisional, to resonate in harmony with the vibrations of the next
existential moment, to be prepared to deliver the grace-note-gift of
your presence to the continuing blossoming of goodness.
Life is a joke. If you don't learn to laugh,
it's a bad joke.
If you don't learn to love (giving, not getting!),
then it's a really bad joke!
Delivering love is a powerful and satisfying
hobby.
It feels good every time. And like wave after wave of ripples in a
pond, kindness echoes, reverberating from person to person, probably
forever (whatever such a word might mean in the context of eternal
now-ing).
Kindness is the means of exchange in the divine
economy. While many live enchanted by the sad illusions spawned by
clock and dollar, some (an ever-growing number on the horizon of
humanity) are outgrowing such fearful greed and losing track of their
time, being far too busy being kind.

So far you've seen what we (that
would be Dr. Bob and
Miss Dee, our Mistress of Technology) think should be included in this
online communication.
But the Salon is more than just the
two of us, it is also each of you. Without the many other eager
practitioners of Intrepid Serendipity, this newsletter would have
little purpose.
So tell us what you'd like to see
here. Even better,
consider sending us your own commentary on the lifestyle of
Intrepid Serendipity. We promise to include everything you send us, in
one form or another, thereby making this your newsletter.
Send correspondence, comments,
cartoons, etc. to
salon@serendipityspirit.org.
